Buildwise (2022), previously Belgian Building Research Institute (BBRI) is a private research institute founded in 1959.

• This database contains publications for the construction sector, including WTCB/Buildwise publications, articles, technical information, building standards, construction products, construction details, calculation tools, quantity surveys for buildings, videos and webinars.
• Access to over 1,200 technical standards.
• The website is used mainly by building contractors, engineers and architects.
• Buildwise wants “to perform scientific and technical research for the benefit of its members; to supply technical information, assistance and consultancy to its members; to contribute in general to innovation and development in the construction sector in particular by performing contract research upon request of the industry and the authorities”
• The website is available in Dutch, French, English and German, but many publications are only available in Dutch (Flemish) and French. The standards and a few other publications are also available in English.

Access

The website is freely accessible. It is not a database licensed by Ghent University and is free of charge. Full-text access is only possible by creating an account using your Ghent University email address and a password of your choice via the Buildwise website. To get full access to, for example, the standards, you will need to register further using your personal mobile phone number. The website can also be accessed via the Ghent University library catalogue.
The publications are available online. Some of them could also be downloaded as PDFs or obtained in print.
